Power Section Update

Dates for the resumption of ‘2020 Coffee Point Marine Time Trialling Season’.

After much planning to work through the Covid-19 restrictions, the Club Management, Power Yacht Administrator, Captain and Vice-Captain, have a road map forward for the shortened “2020 Coffee Point Marine” Time Trialling Season that has now been published.

This shortened season will have a special trophy donated by Doug Smith at Coffee Point Marine, which replaces our usual season trophies and the 400 & 401 awards. These will resume in 2021.

A message from the Power Yacht Captain

“Although as a section and as a sport, our activities are considered minimal contact activities, from the greater Club perspective, the OWG and Management Committee have had to implement a Covid-19 Safety Plan to the appropriate departments in the WA Government before we are allowed to resume normal activities. Until such time as this was submitted, Club facilities (such as the start box) have been off limits for any organised event.

We now have a firm road-map going forward;

  • SoPYC will be targeting a firm start date of the 27th June as our first time trial of the 2020 Coffee Point Marine season
  • CPYC are targeting 18th July as their first event.
  • The SoPYC invitational TiTu event on the 25th July will be used to pull results for CPYC so they can target a full 5-race season. CPYC will also be using the RFBYC ‘Kylie Cup’ (30th August) for a second set of results, with a back-up of the Seafarers at RPYC (13th September)
  • There will still be no presentation of results post-event. Unfortunately, presentations will not be permitted until level 4 restrictions are removed.

Please register online now…If you have not already done so, register your interest with Bernie Kaaks ASAP.”

As part of the 2020 Coffee Point Marine Time Trial season, the awards this season will be as follows;

  • Outright Champion
  • Consistency Champion
  • Most Improved
  • Best First Year

This will be based out of the best eight events remaining this season (including CPYC events). The two special events (Seafarers Measure and Ladies Skippers) will continue as per normal.

As part of the Covid-19 requirements, a simple “Contract Tracing” document must be lodged for each event, (not one for the remainder of the season), while restrictions are still in place. You may have already downloaded from the OWG report link.

More details and of course the new “Official Time” widget” is online on Sportspage.

See you on the water soon,
