What’s news this week? Well, I’m glad you asked. Following the final day of the Canning Bridge IGA Frostbite Series, crews are invited to join their skippers to celebrate the 2019-2020 season on the front lawns in a more relaxed and casual affair.

We are still taking bookings for the Centreboard Prize Night being held at SoPYC on Friday 28 August 2020 from 6pm. If you are intending to come along, please contact Reception before Wednesday 19th August to make your booking.

In between Christina’s popular Monday night Rules Sessions, next Monday evening Warren Erasmus will present an important session on Equipment Audits and how to get your boat race ready for the new season. We kindly ask interested members to book via the button found further below.

Notice of Race together with Schedule of Events are now available and in time for this edition of Coffee Pointers, SoPYC are now accepting entries for the 2020-2021 season. Visit the Online Entries on the relevant Keelboat or Off The Beach section under On Water website menu.

Equipment Audits

South of Perth yacht Club as an Organising Authority has a duty of care to ensure that all competing boats meet a minimum level of safety determined by the race category detailed in the Australians Sailing Special Regulations. Warren Erasmus is a Australian Sailing National Equipment Auditor who will present a session to help Skippers understand what is involved and how to submit an Equipment Audit Form via Yacht Safe. To be eligible to complete in sailing events, an equipment audit form must be lodged with the On Water Group before your first race, so it is important that this is recognised as an essential procedure to get right.

Equipment Audit Forms

Skippers, please note that your Equipment Audit Forms have now expired as of June 30. To be eligible to compete in the new season starting from Opening Day on Oct 4, a new Equipment Form must be submitted online. Most, if not all Skippers have had their previous Audit form submitted online via YachtSafe already, so it should be relatively easy to resubmit a new form in time for your first race of the new season and the good news is that you can view your previous form in Past Audits on your YachtSafe dashboard.

Australian Sailing Club Conferences

The conferences bring together clubs from across the state and are a great way to engage with other clubs and AS. Hear from industry experts and learn from your peer clubs as they share success stories and best practice ideas that can help develop skills, capacity and further improve your club.

Australian Sailing is making our annual Club Conferences accessible to all this year. By cancelling the physical attendance components of each state’s Club Conference, we will be delivering a national agenda online instead. In order to help those who still have concerns about travel and mass gatherings at this time, this more easily accessible format will be run this year only.
