The series of 6 sessions on Racing Rules of Sailing kicked off on Monday night with a positive turnout of 30 people including Members from other clubs. It’s free to attend and you’ll receive helpful handouts on the night.

Catch this week’s Australian Sailing weekly webinars on various topics relating to yacht club matters. They are quite informative and very current. The first 3 are available at the bottom of this newsletter. Catch the next one this Thursday.

Equipment Audit Forms are now done online via Yacht Safe and it’s pleasing to see some Skipper’s preparing early by submitting theirs now. If you need some assistance submitting yours online, feel free to sit down with your Sailing Administrator and get yours out of the way for the coming season. Depending on your preparedness, the whole process can be done in under 5 minutes. Please bear in mind that if you intend to participate in the Billy Run you need to select Category 6 which is also good for river racing.

For the first time, SoPYC Off The Beach Boats will also be included in Yacht Safe. OTB Skippers can submit their Equipment Audit Forms online. No longer will you need to drop paper forms off at the Club or event send it by email. Expect an invitation in your Inbox from Yacht Safe this week which will enable you to setup your Yacht Safe profile.

The uncertainty created by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, border closures and the impact of holding a national event in the current climate on the health and wellbeing of participants and members of the local community were identified as reasons for the cancellation of the 2021 Australian Youth Championships.

If you’re not already entered in the series, it’s never too late to join. Expecting The First Jindarra back racing this week, so H28’s you’ve been warned.

Equipment Audit Forms

Now available for Off The Beach Boats!

Keelboat Skippers, please note that your Equipment Audit Forms have now expired as of June 30. To be eligible to compete in the new season starting from Opening Day on Oct 4, a new Equipment Form must be submitted online. Most, if not all Skippers have had their previous Audit form submitted online via YachtSafe already, so it should be relatively easy to resubmit a new form in time for your first race of the new season and the good news is that you can view your previous form in Past Audits on your YachtSafe dashboard.

Australian Sailing Club Conferences

The conferences bring together clubs from across the state and are a great way to engage with other clubs and AS. Hear from industry experts and learn from your peer clubs as they share success stories and best practice ideas that can help develop skills, capacity and further improve your club.

Australian Sailing is making our annual Club Conferences accessible to all this year. By cancelling the physical attendance components of each state’s Club Conference, we will be delivering a national agenda online instead. In order to help those who still have concerns about travel and mass gatherings at this time, this more easily accessible format will be run this year only.
