Offshore Notes 2 April 2019

Twitch is a Beneteau First 44.7 owned by Barry and Betty Walsh. It’s Barry and Betty’s first foray into Offshore Racing. Their offshore journey has been an interesting one. Barry, Todd and two others brought Twitch across from Melbourne. Two weeks later Barry and Betty did their first offshore race and have been competing ever since.

There have been many highlights in the past three years, not all racing related. Having a whale sing to you is an amazing experience, as is the swishing through the water on a moonlit night.

One of the aims when purchasing Twitch was to compete in the 50th Geraldton Ocean Classic. The 50th GOC was Twitch’s third GOC. For the second time, Twitch won the Batavia Coast Series YAH 2018.

Another highlight for Twitch and her crew was the Fremantle to Bali Race followed by racing in the Darwin to Dili Race and the Darwin to Ambon Race.  For the crew’s efforts, Twitch was placed a respectable second in the Dili race.

More Offshore racing is in Twitch’s future with the 51st GOC and Fremantle to Bali Race in 2020.
