Returning to Australia from London in 1988, Carol joined Challenge Bank as the Treasury Accountant, completed her MBA and moved into human resource management roles with the bank. From the role of Director, Business Services with the Rottnest Island Authority in 1998, Carol’s career in state government began. She moved from Rottnest to Perth Zoo in 2006 and then to the Conservation Commission of Western Australia in 2012. Carol first sailed on Leeuwin in 1989 as part of Challenge Bank’s executive leadership program. There started an enduring passion for an organisation which continues to provide extraordinary, life-changing opportunities for young people. Having been everything from cook’s mate to Chairman of the Board of Directors with Leeuwin, Carol took over as Chief Executive Officer in August 2016.
