Another sold out event although with changeable weather on the radar we had to move our Melbourne Cup activities inside.  But no-one seemed to mind.

Members and guests got into the Havana theme with many wearing bright colours and amazing headwear.    The party got started!

Entrée consisted of Cuban inspired tasting boards, featuring chilled prawns, natural oysters, chefs medley of crudites, along with Baracoa spiced beef tataki and spicy chicken breast. Main course was Oregano chicken, Congri and Chimichurri alternating with Spiced pork belly. Chilled Cuban coconut flan with vanilla caramel citrus salsa followed. There were no complaints….

With a few minutes remaining, members hurried to purchase their sweepstake tickets and then we all held our breaths as the big race started.  Noise levels in the Ballroom and on the Quarter Deck started to rise as the horses raced towards the finish line.  And with almighty cheers from many guests and many celebrating their wins the party kicked off.

It was up to Commodore Cook and his wife Maria to judge the fashions on the field.   The mystery judges had identified five women and five men – who made an impressive line-up that they had a hard time choosing a winner.

The dance floor was packed for the remainder of the afternoon as Greg Schulz and the band kept   members and guests dancing.    So, all in all a great day was had..

Roll on Melbourne Cup 2022!!!!
