Hi Sailors,

Great News! SoPYC is able to resume coaching but strictly within the government guidelines.

Today is meant to be the first session and if safe we are doing a storm training session. At the time of writing it is a beautiful 15 to 30 knots.

We then resume training as per the Team App schedule. For anyone in the training group not on our Team App, please contact me or your coach.

There are a few restrictions to this which you must please read carefully. Any breaches would mean that we won’t be able to continue

  1. Any training is only with a maximum of 10 people. This includes the coach and any family members. So for parents staying down, you must please gather in another area with not more than 10 people.

We will stagger different groups to aid with congestion and try to keep only 10 people on the beach at any one time.In normal circumstances, please understand I really want parents to stay down and be involved with the program.

  1. Training will only be for Single-Handed boats: Lasers, Opti Gold and Opti Silver at this stage
Double handers are not permitted and Bronze and Green may need rescuing and more parental involvement making it difficult to meet the guidelines for social distancing.  Bronze fleet will most likely be added the following week
  2. Pelican, 29er and 125 sailors are welcome to join in but will need to contact me in order to lease or borrow a boat, prior to the session
  3. The Clubhouse and Canteen will be closed
  4. Only 3 people in the changerooms at the same time
  5. Only two people in the Coaches area and Opti Rig Storage

Rescuing sailors will be very difficult to meet the social distancing guidelines, so please make sure your boats are in very good shape and with a very low risk of failure.

Sorry for the rules, but we must all work together to make this feasible. It’s imperative that sailing at SoPYC is not seen to breach the guidelines.

Thanks
Denis
