The winds over the Easter weekend were anything but typical and Race Officer Les and his team did a fabulous job in getting 7 heats run in a very efficient manner. A comprehensive report is being prepared for Soundings and the FFIWA website but the good news is South of Perth had 6 boats in the top 10 which include the winners, Nic and Janet Jerwood sailing Ineffable and second place, John Wilson and Matt Summer sailing Ffast Lane 4. In the silver division, John Lyus and Richard Warren were first in Ffoenix.
Thanks for a great regatta to the organising committee and, in particular, to the onshore logistics crew of Gordon Cook, Scott Nunn and Felicity Lillingston who made sure all competitors were launched, retrieved, fed and watered.
The finals of the Little Wheel Regatta are on Friday the 6th and the Flying Fifteen section is very pleased to have our team of Andrew Knowles, Anne Knowles, Greg Tonnison and Tim Walker qualified and ready for action. A good view of the racing can be gained from the fuel jetty or the club bar for those who prefer a padded seat.
For when too much racing is not enough, the final Club Championship is on this Sunday so bring your best sails for the race and your best stories for the bar afterwards.
The truth may have suffered somewhat for the sake of the story but Rookie and Morton were awarded the “Mug of the day” trophy for rubbing gunwales with the start boat on the breezy Saturday of the State Championships – Russell.
