Moderate conditions greeted the 13 boat fleet on Sunday for a brief return to the long form of club racing. John and Matt got Ffast Lane 4 off the line quickly and established a large lead to be fastest but it was the brothers Vance (Jeff and Greg) in the other Ffast Lane that took the points on consistency.

A couple of cameos throughout the fleet. Tony Finch’s role at the front end of Deffcon1 with Dave Roberts lasted only until a pin slipped out of the chainplate and will require a straighter mast for next time. Past Commodore Skinner replaced Mike Dunbar who had replaced Jen on board Yes, No, Maybe and Martin Arrowsmith made an appearance at the easy end of Faffin while Carl was off doing Rear Commodore things. The details are sketchy surrounding a tack on the second beat up to Robins. Kristine reckons she was safely on the leeward side of the main (but the main was almost level with the water) while Martin maintains he was making an orderly retreat to the nearly exposed keel!

Thanks to those who did the start/finish box duties and to the yellow rescue boat (Poly 1 or 2) who hovered around the various fixed marks so we didn’t get lost.

Only a couple more days of club sailing left in the season with this Sunday being our normal 3 races with a mid-river start at the usual time.
