Final preparations for the State Championships on Sunday with a rarely seen north-westerly keeping both race officer and competitor on their toes and exposing a few weaknesses, physical, mental and material, that might need attention before Easter. A broken forestay deck fitting allowed John and Kevin (She Who Must Be Obeyed) to have an early shower and prompted all the other owners of Ovington boats to spend a bit of time around their boats with a magnifying glass.

Boats hitting top form prior to Easter include Aussie Way (Kim and Neil) who are pictured receiving their pennants having been fastest in race 1 and Ffast Lane (Jeff and Greg) who were towards the front all day until Jeff felt the need to cool off near the leeward mark in the second race.

A large portion of our fleet will be travelling to Esperance for the State Championships over the Easter weekend. The Esperance Bay Yacht Club regularly puts on a great regatta although the weather looks a bit ominous at this stage. Can everyone travelling please ensure they arrive safely and return home in the same condition they left in (plus or minus a few pounds) and make sure Plonkly and John Hassen are not left to refuel vehicles un-supervised.
