Who needs the French Riviera when we have magnificent Mandurah!!!

Boats, sun, sand, good food, great company – what more could one ask for?  Mandurah never fails to disappoint!  Exploring the shops (and yes, some of us did make it to David Jones at the Mandurah Forum), the myriad of restaurants, the expanding Dolphin Quay Marina, the foreshore, market stalls, sampling the bakery delights, strolling along The Boardwalk, cruising the canals plus lots more, made the March long weekend at Mandurah definitely the place to be!

A great Saturday afternoon and evening of socialising followed by a delicious evening meal at Dolphin Quay Marina at the new  “Local Shack” restaurant, was the perfect way to set the weekend tone for those Cruising Section members, new and existing, who ventured to MOFSC along with over thirty boats form RPYC and Cockburn Power Boat Association.

Sunday was another glorious day with a one and a half hour leisurely trip across the beautiful Peel Estuary to the Murray River which was teaming with bird life, boats, dolphins and people happily waving as we went past in the rib.  Some of us went to the Ravenswood Hotel for lunch by RIB, whilst others remained at Dolphin Quay to lunch with family and friends. With bubbles flowing for the girls and beers for the skipper and navigators, life couldn’t get much better than this!  The Ravenswood was as popular as ever, with live music, lots of boaties and every seat was taken!  We even bumped into Past Commodore Phil Lammonby enjoying lunch in his retirement.

Monday came all to quickly, with some of us returning to SoPYC by boat and others back to Perth by car, but not before enjoying a wonderful breakfast (including the best omelette your Cruisy Scribe has ever had!) at the “Boardwalk Café” next to the new Mandurah Bridge, before strolling along the Boardwalk and foreshore enjoying more fabulous WA weather!

It was a great weekend being able to enjoy Mandurah again with friends new and old.

A big thank you to Stephen and Olga Mawhinney for all the organisation and tour guide advice for this fabulous long weekend to Magnificent Mandurah. Thank you again to the Cruising Section Committee for another wonderful social event for SoPYC members to enjoy. This is what the Cruising Section is all about, getting members out on their boats to enjoy great times at different venues all year round!
