SoPYC Wheel Clamp
At the recent Management Committee meeting the subject of car parking was discussed and the Committee is concerned at the number of cars that are being parked improperly, ignoring parking information, inadequately identified (which includes boat trailers), blocking hardstand trailer bays preventing members using their boats, or not being able to return boats to the land pens.
The Security Committee has been asked to resurrect “Jed” (clamp-it) - the colloquial name for the club wheel clamp. So without attaching the clamp injudiciously and without warning, the Security Committee is asking that member’s be conscious of their parking habits around the club. Should the clamp be applied to a vehicle, it can only be released during office hours Monday to Friday and the fee attached to the removal of the clamp is $150.00.

Each Friday from 3pm to 5.30pm the Club is conducting races for DragonFlite95 (DF95) radio controlled yachts. You are invited to come and participate in the fun of racing these restricted one-design yachts. There are currently fifteen DF95s belonging to members of SoPYC and they will be happy to hand over the controls for you to 'have a go'. A DF95 …

FROM THE OWG OFFICE
This week all fleets will start at scheduled time, however C Fleet’s race will be a non-consistency trial race - pursuit style. Individual boat start times will be emailed directly to C Fleet skippers.
We’re well into the series now, with race 7 starting this Wednesday. Conditions looking warm and light, so let’s make it a bumper turnout. Let’s see how we’re travelling up to race 6 in comparison to last season’s Thursday time slot:

Viper 640 State Championship
Over the coming weekend, the Viper 640 sports boats will competing in Melville Water East between 0900 to 1200 Saturday and Sunday mornings. Expecting a tight battle between reigning world champion Nick Jerwood and past state champions Graeme Monkhouse and Rod Beurteaux. The boys from Princes Royal Sailing Club are also confirmed entrants. Should be a fast and awesome show.
It’s another bumper race day with all fleets plus some racing at SoPYC. The Farr 9.2’s and the S80 Association fleets will also be joining in.
Last Sunday saw the last Club Championship for 2018, and it won’t be until Sunday 13th February 2019 when everyone is back in time for the next Club Championships. This Sunday will be the continuation of the Multiple Race Series.

There have been numerous contacts between boats competing on the river lately which most, if not all, could have been avoided if only skippers and crew kept a better watch out for converging boats. By all means continue to race for those sheep stations, but do it in a considerate and safe way please.

A new version of the Sailing Red Book has just arrived and there are plenty of them. Designed to fit most pockets, handbags, man bags, bumbags, they’re a handy way to stay informed . Freely available from the foyer outside the OWG office and around the Club. Please give us your feedback.

RO Les laid out a good size course for heats 3 and 4 of the Club Championship and a moderate south-westerly made for an excellent afternoon of sailing. John and Matt (Ffast Lane 4) made all the right moves to win both heats with Greg and Alex (Spot the difference), Andy and Anne (A2) and Lillo and Peter (Swifft) sharing the minor placings. Consistency winners were Tim and Crowbar (No Bull) and Mark and Michael (Saltheart).
Newcomers to our fleet, Terry Newby and Leanne Fallows won the Silver division in Eagle Eye. Our photo shows a hard working Leanne with the winners pennants. Thanks to Jen for the photo.
Start training for the Flying Fifteen Christmas Party on Sunday the 16th of this month. More details to follow.
Multiple races next weekend starting at 1325hrs.
