Flying Fifteen Update
The boys from Ffollow Us (Tim and Plonky) were feeling pretty good about themselves having been fastest in all three races conducted on Sunday afternoon in conditions much more civilised than last week. Greg and Leanne (Enuff Rope), Jen and Adam (Yes, No, Maybe) and Vice John and Gordon (Ffancy Classique) shared around first places on consistency.
The Flying Fifteen is an equal opportunity class even down to the “Person Overboard Trophy” which, this week, is awarded to Michelle Richardson who exhibits remarkable bravery by sailing with her dad on board Fflashpoint and equally remarkable trust in taking advice on spinnaker handling from the same parent! Anyway, the hobbles were released for a venture forward of the mast and Rookie (it’s always the skippers fault!) didn’t make sure they were re-attached, so guess who should be the one ringing the bell…. ?
The annual Tally Hobbs Regatta was run by Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning with a combined fleet of 16 boats. Karen and Russell (Second Breakffast) had a narrow lead at the end of the first day but couldn’t maintain the rage on day 2 and ended in 6th overall. Hamish and Muddie (Neffarious) from RFBYC won 4 out of 6 races and, therefore, the regatta. David and Mary-Anne from SoPYC won on consistency in Double Nickel.
Sailing Flying Fifteens is rarely described as “normal” but next weekend we are back to normal with multiple races starting at 1325hrs.

S80 Update

S80 Legends Day - Wednesday 28th November 2018

The S80 Association is conducting their annual Legends Day race at SoPYC this year.
We are inviting all ex S80 sailors (Legends), to participate in lunch at the Club, followed by a jam race and then a presentation of the Ron Tough Memorial Trophy after the race.
This race has proved immensely popular with 24 S80's participating last year and a similar number are expected to front the line again this year. Many past skippers and crew have already nominated but we would like to see you all there on the day. It is a day where you can renew old friendships, tell tall tales and quench your thirst after an exciting day on the river.

If you would like to be part of the fun (and why wouldn’t you), please contact Wally Philippe on 0417 948 449 or walphilippe@westnet.com.au and I will arrange a place for you if you wish to sail or possibly a place on a power boat as an observer. Don’t procrastinate. Contact me now.
