INFORMATION TO MEMBERS ABOUT CHANGES TO THE
ASSOCIATIONS INCORPORATION ACT 2015
INFORMATION SESSIONS FOR MEMBERS
All Members will receive a detailed letter by email. A summary of the letter is included below.
The Club’s constitution was written in 1993. It has been updated from time to time but it contains clauses from 1993 and earlier that now do not comply with the laws of Western Australia.
In 2015 the Associations Incorporation Act changed the law governing clubs like ours. Because of these changes, clubs like ours must update their governing documents. Also, the Club’s lawyers have noticed a number of inconsistencies in the Club’s governing documents so now is a good time to remove those inconsistencies.
For a few months now, the Club has been inviting members to comment on the draft new rules and by-laws that the Club proposes to adopt at a General Meeting and put to government for approval to comply with the Associations Incorporation Act.
Now the Club invites you to attend any one or more of a series of open forums so that you can ask any questions you want, or suggest any changes you want, to the draft rules and by-laws. The information sessions will be chaired by Elph Hensler.

The documents INFORMATION TO MEMBERS ABOUT CHANGES TO THE ASSOCIATIONS INCORPORATION ACT 2015, the DRAFT MODEL RULES, the DRAFT BY-LAWS and the CURRENT CONSTITUTION are all located on the members portal of our website under "Constitution".

Member and Non-Member Food & Beverage Pricing
At the AGM on 5th September, Members were asked to provide an indication of their views about the introduction of a Member and Non Member food and beverage pricing scheme. The feedback was overwhelmingly in favour of the proposal to introduce Member and Non Member pricing.
The new pricing scheme is in place and like all new pricing changes there have been hiccups with the introduction which we trust have been sorted out. If you are still experiencing issues please address the issues to the Duty Manager, Assistant Food and Beverage Manager or the Food and Beverage Manager. The General Manager and Vice Commodore are also reference points should there be an issue that Members need to have dealt with.
To help Members understand the application of the changes and how the discount is applied an explanation is set out below.
- Beverage and dining prices will rise by 10% from Monday 1st October, 2018. Function pricing will be priced as per the current packages on offer.
- Members will automatically have a 10% discount applied to their purchases when they use their FOB key (member key) at the point of sale. (Grand Sponsors will therefore have a 20% discount).
It is important to note that the price paid by Members before the introduction of the 10% price increase will be the same as the member pricing prior to the change. For example, if a glass of beer is $4.40 on 30th September, it will move to $4.84 on 1st October. Once the discount is applied back to a Member, the price for the beer will be $4.40 so no practical change in the cost unless you are not eligible to receive the discount.
- Members without their FOB keys must present their Membership Card at the time of the transaction to receive the discount.
- The discount will not be applicable without either the FOB key or your Membership Card (which should be carried by Members at all times).
- Any person unable to demonstrate they are bona fide members of the Club will be obliged to pay the new Non Member prices for any purchases they make at the Club.

Duyfken Line Catchers and Ship Keepers Needed!
Here is your opportunity to take an active role on the Duyfken.
After each of the Duyfken twilight sails we need to roster a Line Catcher to help secure the ship back against the berth. It's just a matter of catching a heaving line and then placing the mooring lines on a bollard or timber chaffer.
Here are the November dates where we are looking for help.
Twilight Sailing Dates- November 2nd, 3 ,4 , 9, 10,11,16,17,18, 23, 24 & 25th 2018.
This involves being on the jetty from 6.45pm awaiting Duyfken’s return to berth. Usually wrapped up by 7.15pm.
Ideally we like to have a ship keeper aboard Duyfken each night of the week. During the summer this can be a most rewarding experience – dinner on the deck watching a beautiful sunset. On twilight sailing days the ship keeper could also serve as the line-catcher.
